We are diverse team of artists connected by our tour values and a passion for street dance culture! Hip Hop’s motto “Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun” guides our approach to street dance education.
illFX is a safe environment where everyone is welcome and treated equally, regardless of their age, level, gender, size, religion, orientation, ethnicity, political beliefs or civil status.

HONOUR THE LEGACY
Each style of dance that we learn at illFX has a rich cultural history that is imperative to understanding and embodying the style.
We encourage dancers to review our Cultural and Historical Database to learn important information that we may not be able to communicate during class time. We are committed to embracing the history of our art form and honouring its pioneers, without whom illFX would not have come to be!
PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS
We believe that students thrive when they feel supported. We guide our students with encouragement not criticism, and inspire them to be better by setting positive examples in and out of the studio. We also encourage our students to lift and motivate each other, through team spirit and healthy competition. Together we can reach our greatest potential!
MOTIVATE + INSPIRE
Perfection is unattainable, but growth, progress and excellence are at the end of hard work. Dance is a way of life and a powerful tool for self-expression and self-discovery. We take dance very seriously and expect a high level of commitment, dedication and passion from our dancers and our faculty. We believe that there are no shortcuts, and only through hard work will we achieve our dreams!
RESPECT IS FOR EVERYONE
iillFX is very passionate about ensuring that everyone in our community feels safe, supported and respected. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding bullying, racism, sexism, and misconduct of any kind. Our differences make us special and should be celebrated. We encourage everyone to treat each other as they wish to be treated, and approach us if any issues arise. illFX is a family and everyone deserves the same love and respect!
SHARE THE LOVE
We are also part of a larger community, not only in Calgary but the global Street Dance community. We will support our fellow dancers and take what we learn from Hip-Hop and Street Dance culture out into the world and strive to make it a better place. Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun are principles to live by and we will allow them to guide us throughout our lives.
